You can't simply take the top cover off and replace the synchros, you'll need a press, and a complete tear down of the T-5 to do it. The part was $10, and I had a local tranny guy charge me an additional $125 to open it up, replace the synchro, inspect, and put back together. For $135, it got a clean bill of health.
