WebJan 24, 2013 · about a month after starting the tank it is not unusual to see an algae bloom. the nutrients are definitely coming from the LR. it looks like Lace Rock instead of LR, though both are calcium carbonate. the difference is moot except Lace rock is a lot denser. it may take longer for the bacteria to do their magic on the nutrients in the LR.
